ARTICLE TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE. The Employer will give the Union a minimum of three- (3) months advance notice of any technological change that will have an effect on the employment status of employees. The spirit and intent of this Article is so that both parties shall meet to resolve ways and means of averting any loss of employment.

ARTICLE TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE. It is the policy of the Board to endeavour to place in other positions any permanent service members who may be displaced by technological improvements in the operation of the Service or by the contracting out of any services now performed by the members represented by the Association. Should the Board decide to contract out any work now performed by members coming within the bargaining unit, no such member with at least two years of permanent service with the Service will be laid off or have his/her employment terminated by reason thereof.

ARTICLE TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE. The Villa undertakes to the Union ninety (90) days in advance, as far as is practical, of any technological changes which the Villa has decided to introduce which will significantly change the status of employees within the bargaining unit. The Villa agrees to discuss with the Union the effect of such technological changes on the employment status of employees and to consider practical ways and means of minimizing the adverse effect, if any, upon employees concerned.

The employer will assume the cost of tuition and travel. There shall be no reduction in wage or salary rates during the training period of any such employee. Training shall be given during the hours of work whenever possible and may extend for up to six months.

ARTICLE TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE. If an employee who has one (1) year or more seniority is laid off for a period expected to exceed six (6) months as a direct result of a technological change, the individual shall receive a special allowance equal to one (1) week of the individual’s regular salary at the time of lay off multiplied by the individual’s completed years of service to a maximum of twenty-six (26).The allowance shall be paid out on normal pay days, just as though regular salary was continuing, until either the full amount of the allowance has been received by the individual or the individual returns to work, whichever occurs first. For the purpose of this Article "technological change" means the introduction of an innovation in equipment, material or process used by the Company in its Departments and Plants in the District which directly results in a change in the manner in which the Company and employees carry out work.
