ARTICLE JOB SHARING. The introduction of job sharing arrangements on a nursing unit will be subject to mutual agreement between the Association and the Hospital. The Hospital shall not arbitrarily or unreasonably refuse to implement job sharing. The initial job sharing arrangement will be type for a period of six (6) months and the experience reviewed by the Association and the Hospital. If after a six (6) month period, the Hospital or the Association wish to terminate a job sharing arrangement, they may do so upon advance written notification of sixty (60) days to the other party. If this occurs, the position revert to a full-time position, and both nurses will revert to their former status. The nurses involved in this project are entitled to all the terms of the collective agreement applicable to part-time nurses except those which are modified as follows:

ARTICLE JOB SHARING. The parties mutually agree to implement Job Sharing. It is understood that the Hospital has the sole right to determine whether or not any full-time position shall be shared by (2) nurses and retains the sole right to determine the required ratio of full-time to part-time nurses. It understood that Job Sharing requests with regard to full-time positions being shared by two nurses shall be individually considered on the following basis: Job sharing arrangements shall be voluntary for all participants. All Job Sharers shall be treated as regular part-time employees and be subject to the provisions of the part- time Collective Agreement except where referred to and/or amended herein. Where the Job Sharing arrangements arise out of the filling of a vacant full-time position, both Job Sharing positions shall be posted and selection based on the criteria set out the Collective Agreement. An incumbent full-time nurse wishing to share her position may do so without having her half of the position posted; however, the other half of the job shared position shall be posted and the selection based on the criteria set out the Collective Agreement. Where two full-time nurses wish to share a full-time position, they will choose which of the two positions will be shared and the remaining position will be filled on a temporary basis for the duration of the trial six (6) month period of the Job Sharing agreement. If one of the Job Sharers leaves the arrangement, her position will be posted. if there no successful applicant to the position, the shared position shall revert to a full-time position. The remaining nurse will have the option of continuing in the full-time position or another part-time position. If she does not continue full-time, the position shall be posted according to the Collective Agreement. The following conditions shall apply unless otherwise agreed to by the parties : Job Sharing with regard to full-time positions shall be considered on an individual basis. Total hours worked by the job sharers shall equal one (1) full-time The division of these hours or the schedule shall be determined by mutual agreement between the two (2) nurses and the Nursing Unit Manager of the unit. The above schedules shall conform with the scheduling provisions of the full-time Collective Agreement. For scheduling purposes the shared job shall be treated as a single position. The job sharers are for all other purposes. Each job sharer may exchange shifts with her partner, as well as with other nurses as provided by the Collective Agreement. The job sharers involved will have the right to which partner works on scheduled paid holidays and job sharers shall be required to work the number of paid holidays that a full-time nurse would be required to work.

It is expected that both job sharers will cover each other's incidental illnesses and vacation. If, because of unavoidable circumstances, one cannot cover the other, the Unit Supervisor must be notified to book coverage. Job sharers are not required to cover for their partner in the case of prolonged or extended absences. Job sharers shall be offered additional unscheduled tours only if they have made their availability known. It is understood that they may make themselvesavailable on when neither job share partner is scheduled and where such would not result in premium payment. Vacation, Maternity Leave, and other leaves pursuant to Article of the Central Agreement: In the event that one member of the job-sharing arrangement goes on any of the above leaves of absence, the coverage will be negotiated with the Team Manager or delegate, but it is hoped that the remaining member of the position would be prepared to cover the leave of absence as much as possible.

The average hours to be worked are equal to one-half that of a regular full-time nurse. Article Seniority Job Clause Each nurse involved will accumulate seniority prorated on the basis of one-half year for each calendar year worked.

ARTICLE JOB SHARING. The Employer agrees that two (2) full-time employees, neither are identified as being laid off, may choose to share a single full-time position provided the following requirementsare met: The application shall be made to the Superintendent of Human Resources at least two (2) months prior to entering the plan. The proposed sharing arrangement shall be considered only upon written recommendation of the involved, and the Superintendentor designate shall be assured to satisfaction that the sharing arrangements result in the continued functioning of all duties involved in a position. At the time of granting the leave, agreement in writing shall be reached on the date of return to full-time assignments. The date may be extended by mutual agreementbetween the employees and the Employer. The total salary paid shall not exceed the maximum rate for the classification level of the position and eachjob sharing partner shall receive an amount pro-rated to the percentage of the time worked. Annual increment dates shall be maintained. Credited experience shall continue as though the were working full-time. The entitlement to sick leave, vacation leave, and holiday pay shall be prorated to the time worked by the employee. The job sharing agreement shall not represent a promotion for either employee. In the event either employee participating in ajob sharing arrangement is declared surplus or laid off, the job share shall be discontinued and and shall apply prior to the layoff and recall provisions being implemented. Subject to the Layoff and Recall provisions of this Collective Agreement, the employee holding the position which was shared shall have the right to be returned to that position. Subject to the Layoff and Recall provisions of this Collective Agreement, the employeewho transfers from one position to the shared position shall have the right to be returned to the original position for a period of up to two (2) years.
ARTICLE JOB SHARING. The Region and the Association agree with the principal of job sharing, which involves two nurses sharing one full-time designated position. The parties agree that job sharing, as to current and job shared positions shall be in accordance with the following terms: Nurse( may request at any time that a full-time position be shared. Either of the nurses involved in a job sharing arrangement, having worked together for a minimum of three months, unless prevented from doing so by accident, illness, death or any irreconcilable differences may terminate the job sharing arrangement by giving one month’s notice to the Employer. The Employer may, after the expiration of a three month trial period for any newly establishedjob sharing arrangement terminate the arrangement by giving one month’s written notice to the nurses involved and return such nurses to their positions. If any nurses have been hired to facilitate such arrangement, they shall be laid off until suitable vacancies Should one partner transfer or terminate employment, the remaining partner shall continue to work her own for thirty days. If no replacement partner is recruited she must decide either to return to her former position or continue as a full-time nurse in the designated position.
