ARTICLE HOURS OF WORK. The Hospital does not guarantee to provide employment or work for normal hours or for any other hours. The normal hours of work shall be thirty-seven and one-half hours in a seven day period on seven and one-half hour shifts exclusive of an unpaid meal period. For the purposes of this Agreement, the seven day period shall be from Saturday to Friday inclusive. It is understood that for the purpose of overtime calculation, hours of work may be averaged over the hour pay period. All work performed in excess of seven and one-half hours per day, or on a employee’s scheduled day off, shall be paid for at the rate of time and one-half of the employee’s basic straight time hourly rate. The Hospital shall post schedules of work for all employees four weeks in advance. Except in cases of emergency, where an employee’s schedule is changed on less than forty-eight hours’ notice, they shall be entitled to overtime rates for hours worked in the first shift of their new schedule. Summer vacation schedules will be posted by May and Christmas Schedules by November No employee shall be normally scheduled to work more than seven consecutive days in a row without consent of the employee. Split days off shall not be scheduled except by mutual consent. There will not be less than a period of sixteen consecutive hours between shifts worked by an employee without the consent of such employee. The foregoing does not apply to staff working on an extended tour rotation. An employee shall be scheduled for at least two weekends off in any six week period of scheduling. No employee shall be laid off during their normal schedule of working hours for the sole purpose of depriving them of overtime pay. For the shifts affected by the change from daylight savings time to standard time, and vice versa, the employee shall be paid for hours actually worked. In the Spring, the night shift shall receive one hour less and in the Fall, an extra hour shall be paid at the applicable overtime rate. Every hour worked between midnight Friday through to Midnight Sunday shall receive per hour premium and this is not pyramiding. Overtime entitlement may be taken either as a monetary benefit at time and half the employee’s regular straight time hourly rate of pay or as time off at the rate of time and one-half hours, for each hour of overtime. Unless mutually agreed to otherwise, any such accumulated time must be taken by March of each year or it shall be paid out by the Hospital.

ARTICLE HOURS OF WORK. The Hospital does not guarantee (a) Overtime is defined as authorized work in excess of seven (7) hours per day or thirty-five (35) hours per week. Overtime will be compensatedat the rate of one and one-half (1%) hours off for each hour worked or one and one-half (1 times the straight time rate by mutual agreement. Any full time employee called in to provide employment work on Saturday, Sunday, a paid holiday or work for normal hours during an employee’s vacation shall receive call back compensation at On-call the rate of one and one half (1 times hourly rate, equivalenttime off at time and one half or for any other hoursfour (4)hours pay or time off, whichever is greater. The normal four (4) hour minimum shall not apply to planned overtime. Part-time employees may be scheduled to work weekend and evening shifts. Employees so scheduled will be paid at straight time for weekend and evening shifts. Employees who work scheduled hours on the weekend and evenings will receive a premium of per scheduled hour worked. A weekend is defined as the hours between Friday and Monday. Evening work is defined as work between the hours of noon and for all extended hours staff where the premium will apply. This will become effective on the date of ratification of this agreement. The hours of work shall be thirty-seven exclusive of meal periods but inclusive of break periods. For shifts of hours or more, the meal period shall be one (1) hour. The break periods are to be fifteen (15)minutes for each three and one-half hours in (3%)hours worked. Shifts of three (3)hours or more shall have a seven day period on seven and one-half hour shifts exclusive minimum of an unpaid meal one fifteen (15)minute break period. For the purposes of this AgreementShould it become necessary to establish new shifts or alter existing shifts for full time staff or regular part time employees’ normal shifts, the seven day period Employer will do so only after negotiation with the Union. The Union and the Employer recognize that it is desirable to post part time staff schedules as far in advance as practical. Where absences are known in advance, such as for vacation or approved leaves of under days, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule months in advance. Schedules shall be from Saturday updated on an ongoing basis. Changes of scheduled hours taking place within the next two on a posted schedule will be brought to Friday inclusivethe affected employee’s attention whenever possible. After one incident as noted above, working time will be accumulated for all subsequent incidents and such time will be paid at the rate of time and one-one half with a minimum of the employee’s basic straight time hourly rateone hour to be paid. There will not be less than a period of sixteen consecutive hours between shifts worked by an employee without the consent of such employee. The foregoing does not apply to staff working on an extended tour rotation. An employee shall be scheduled for at least two weekends off in any six week period of schedulingrotating basis. Where such changes are necessary, the employee shall be given notice as far in advance as possible. Provided sufficient advance notice is given in writing and with the approval of the Employer or delegate, employees may exchange shifts. The Employer and the Union agree that there shall be no increase in cost to the Employer or changes in employee status as a consequence of any shift exchanges. Once in every two (2) week period and at the discretion of the Employer or delegate, employees shall be scheduled two (2) days off, which shall be either a combination of Friday Saturday, Saturday Sunday or Sunday Monday. Upon written request of an unpaid meal period. On any three shift operations, employees will be granted a twenty minute paid lunch period, as part of their eight hour shift. Employees may exchange shifts, subject to the following: they must provide sufficient advance notice to the supervisor or at least twenty-four hours; the exchange must be approved by the supervisor; there can be no additional cost to the Company as a result of the exchange; and it must be possible to accommodate the shift change in the department of the employees involved, without adverse business consequences.
