ARTICLE HOURS OF WORK. The following provision designating regular hours on a daily tour and regular daily tours over the nursing schedule determined by the Hospitalshall not be construedto be a guarantee of the hours of work to be performed on each tour or during each tour schedule. Subject to Article below: The normal daily tour shall be seven and one-half (7 consecutive hours in any (24) hour period exclusive of an unpaid one-half hour meal period, it being understoodthat at the change of tour there will normally be additionaltime requiredfor reportingwhich shall be considered to be part of the normal daily tour, for a period of up to fifteen (15) minutes duration. Full-time nurses in the bargaining unit engaged in teaching in Schools for shall work a flexible schedule, Monday to Friday, averaging hours per week over the schedule to be determined by local negotiations. Employees shall be advised of any changes in the posted schedule within thirty (30) hours of the shift commencing. Either party may propose a meeting for the purpose of discussing amendments to the scheduling. Requests for a in the posted time schedule, or in the master rotation irrespective of whether the six (6) weeks in question have been posted or not, must submitted writing and CO-signed by the nurse willing to exchange the posted time. The nurse willing to exchange must have an appropriate of expertise to function adequately the particular unit on each the tour in question. Such changes must not involve the use of nursing office staff relief. The Hospital will not unreasonably withhold consent The Hospital shall endeavour to reassign to a nurse a shift that has been previously assigned to that nurse but cancelled. Extra shifts will be offered whenever time permits to regular part-time nurses who have indicated their availability to their Head by way of availability cards, over and above their tours before such shifts are offered to casual, to a maximum of thirty-three and three quarter hours per week, or during each tour schedule. When notice of discontinuance is given by either party in accordance with paragraph two above, then: The parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of receipt of the notice to review the request for discontinuance. Where determined that extended tours or mixed tours will be discontinued, affected nurses shall be given sixty (60) notice before the schedules are so amended. The feasibility of continuing extended tours or mixed tours will be assessed on a regular basis. Criteria for the assessment to include the following: review of standards of patient care scheduling problems incurred with relief staffing recruitment absenteeism turnover budgeting constraints overtime employee incidents Self-scheduling will be introduced into any unit when eighty (80%) percent of the nurses the unit so indicate their preference for self-scheduling by secret ballot. An initial test period shall run for months after which the Nursing participants will indicate by an (80%) percent vote, by secret ballot their willingness to continue, with the agreement of the Head Nurse. Unit specific scheduling guidelines will reflect scheduling provisions in the collective agreement and will be developed collaboratively by the first line nurse manager and nursing unit staff subject to approval by the Hospital the Association. Self-scheduling is by the Employer as scheduling by request in order to promote more flexible schedules that meet the needs of the nursing schedule determined by staff and the Hospitalpatient care needs of the unit.
