ARTICLE HOURS OF WORK. The following provision designating regular hours on a daily tour and regular daily tours over the nursing schedule determined by the Hospitalshall not be construedto be a guarantee of the hours of work to be performed on each tour or during each tour schedule. Subject to Article below: The normal daily tour shall be seven and one-half (7 consecutive hours in any (24) hour period exclusive of an unpaid one-half hour meal period, it being understoodthat at the change of tour there will normally be additionaltime requiredfor reportingwhich shall be considered to be part of the normal daily tour, for a period of up to fifteen (15) minutes duration. Should the reporting time extend beyond fifteen (15) minutes, however, the entire period shall be considered overtime for the purposes of payment under Article Nurses shall be entitled, subject to the exigencies of patient care, to relief periods during the tour on the basis of fifteen (15) minutes for each half tour. The scheduling of meal periods and relief periods shall be determined by local negotiations. The regular daily tours of duty of a full-time nurse shall average five (5) days per week over the nursing schedule determined by the Hospital. Full-time schedules shall be determined by local negotiation. Full-time nurses in the bargaining unit engaged in teaching in Schools for shall work a flexible schedule, Monday to Friday, averaging hours per week over the schedule to be determined by local negotiations. Where a nurse notifies her or his supervisor that she or he has been or will be unable to take the normal lunch break due to the requirementof providing Hospital Central Agreement March patient care, such nurse shall be paid time and one half her or his regular straight time hourly rate for all time worked in excess of her or his normal daily hours.

ARTICLE HOURS OF WORK. Where determined that extended tours or mixed tours will be discontinued, affected nurses shall be given sixty (60) notice before the schedules are so amended. The feasibility of continuing extended tours or mixed tours will be assessed on a regular basis. Criteria for the assessment to include the following: review of standards of patient care scheduling problems incurred with relief staffing recruitment absenteeism turnover budgeting constraints overtime employee incidents Self-scheduling will be introduced into any unit when eighty (80%) percent of the nurses the unit so indicate their preference for self-scheduling by secret ballot. An initial test period shall run for months after which the Nursing participants will indicate by an (80%) percent vote, by secret ballot their willingness to continue, with the agreement of the Head Nurse. Unit specific scheduling guidelines will reflect scheduling provisions in the collective agreement and will be developed collaboratively by the first line nurse manager and nursing unit staff subject to approval by the Hospital the Association. Self-scheduling is by the Employer as scheduling by request in order to promote more flexible schedules that meet the needs of the nursing schedule determined by staff and the Hospitalpatient care needs of the unit.
