ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The Hospital and the Union agree that they mutually to standards of safety and health in the Hospital in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness. its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the Hospital agrees to accept as a member of its Accident Prevention Health & Safety Committee, at least one representative selected or appointed by the Union from amongst bargaining unit employees. Such Committee shall identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving health and safety programs, and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions related to safety and health. The Hospital agrees to co-operate reasonably in providing necessary information to enable the Committee to its functions. Meetings shall be held every second month or more frequently at the call of the Chair if required. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review. Any representative appointed or selected in accordance with hereof shall serve for a term of one calendar year from the date of appointment, which may be renewed for further periods of one year. Time off for such representative(s) to attend meetings of the Accident Prevention Health Safety Committee in accordance with the foregoing shall be granted and time so spent attending such meetings shall be deemed to be work time for which the representative(s) shall be paid by the Hospital at his regular or premium rate as may be applicable. The Union agrees to endeavour to obtain the full co-operation of its membership in the observation of all safety rules and practices. Pregnant employees may request to be transferred from their current duties if, in the professional opinion of the employee's physician, the pregnancy may be at risk. If such a transfer is not feasible, the pregnant employee, if she so requests, will be granted an unpaid leave of absence before commencement of the maternity leave referred to in Article Where the Hospital identifies high-risk areas where employees are exposed to Hepatitis the Hospital will provide, at no cost to the employees, a Hepatitis vaccine. ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The Employer agrees to establish a Health Safety Committee with equal representation from the Employer and the Union, this will include driver representation. The Health & Safety Committee will meet during regular working hours once per month to review safety and health matters of mutual concern. The Committee will make periodic tours of the terminal for safety inspections. In the event the terminal tour is to be conducted by an Industrial Safety Officer from the Ministry of Labour, one Union Committee member will accompany the Officer on the tour. The Employer shall continue to make reasonable provisions for the health and safety of its employees in accordance with the Health Safety Code during the hours of their employment. The programme of the Safety Committee shall have the support of the Union and the Committee and will welcome the suggestions with regard to the safety of the employees. The Employer agrees to provide a separate bulletin board for health and safety matters and the minutes from the monthly health and safety meetings exclusively. The Employer will provide protective devices and apparel should the need warrant under the Health Safety Code. The Employer agrees to pay employees at their regular shift rate for time spent in monthly Health and Safety Committee meetings in accordance with the legislative requirements.

ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health in order to prevent injury and illness.
ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The Company agrees to accept as a member of its Health and Safety Committee one representative selected or appointed by the Union at each location. The Committee shall meet at least four (4) times a year. Minutes shall be taken of all meetings and copies posted.
ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The Company shall make all reasonable provisions for the health and safety of its employees and all employees have the right to make recommendations to the management respecting the safety and health of its employees. The Union agrees that it will cooperate with the Company in the maintenance of these services. Where, in the opinion of the Union, the health and safety of an employee is endangered, the matter shall be reported to the Company on forms which are to be provided. The Company agrees to promptly investigate the unsafe condition and report its findings to the Union within a reasonable period of time. If the Union believes the action taken by the Company does not remedy the unsafe condition, the matter may be taken through the Grievance Procedure. Employees are required to use personal protective equipment and to observe the posted rules of the Company for the prevention of fire, prevention of accident and prevention of personal injury. Every employee using tools or tending machinery shall immediately report defects or breakages in such equipment to Supervisor, who shall take such steps as are necessary to correct such defects or breakages. Failure to comply with the safety provisions of this Article will result in disciplinary action being taken in accordance with Article All employees are required to immediately report all accidents or injuries no matter how small, and regardless of whether or not first aid treatment is required, to their Supervisor. Failure to comply with the safety provisions of this Article will result in disciplinary action being taken in accordance with Article and each incident be duly recorded by the Supervisor. The Company will pay, on a reimbursement basis, fifty percent (50%) of the cost of approved work boots with a limit of two (2) pairs maximum per twelve (12) months to all employees who have completed their probationary period. If more than two pairs are required, the employee must in old boots. The Company will supply anti- fatigue insoles. The Company may require a post-offer, pre- employment medical examination and drug test of any applicant. The Company may also require a physical examination and or drug test, of an employee for just cause, at any time, at the Company's expense. ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The provisions of Part II of the Canada Labour Code shall be deemed to be incorporated in this Agreement. There shall be the establishmentof a Health Safety Committee or Health Safety Representative,First Aid Kits and Safety Equipment, as outlined in Part II of the Canada Labour Code and its regulations. The Company agrees to provide certified training in and Emergency First Aid, as it deems appropriate, receiving a recommendation the Health and Safety Committee or Health Safety Representative in accordance with the provisions of Part II of the Canada Labour Code. ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The Board agrees to provide safe and healthful conditions of work for its employees and to carry out all of its duties and obligations under the Occupational Health Safety Act and its regulations. It is understood that a perceived violation of the Occupational Health Safety Act is not The Union agrees to assist the Board in maintaining proper observation of all health and safety rules. One representative appointed by the Bargaining Unit Executive shall serve on the Board’s Joint Health and Safety Committee. It is the responsibility of the member to report to the member’s immediate supervisor any equipment or process which is, in the opinion of the member, unsafe or hazardous or any condition which is unhealthy. If any difference of opinion exists between the member and the member’s immediate supervisor, the member may refer the matter to the Union representative of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. The Union representative shall contact the Health and Manager who shall ensure that all necessary actions are taken to address the concern of the member. All reported incidents involving aggression or violence shall be brought to the attention of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Employees are required to practice universal precautions in the handling and disposal of blood and body fluids. The Board shall inform employees of such practices by providing a copy of the description of universal precautions to each work place and requesting the supervisor to so advise employees it is available. The Board agrees that in cases where the Board identifies, following consultation with the employees, a risk of violence to staff, the Board shall establish and maintain measures and procedures to reduce the likelihood of violent incidents to the lowest possible level. ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. The University and the Union recognize the benefits to be derived from a safe and healthy place of employment. It is agreed that the University, the employees, and the Union will cooperate fully to promote safe-work practices, health and conditions, and the enforcement of safety rules and procedures in accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, The University and the Union membership agree to comply with all the regulations pursuant to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, No employee shall be disciplined for refusal to perform work where the employee has acted in compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, The University and the Union agree to participate in the University Health and Safety Committee as per the structure of the committee. The Union will have two (2) representatives on this committee.
ARTICLE HEALTH SAFETY. (a) The Company and the Union agree that a joint Safety Committee will deal with such Safety problems which may arise on the Company premises. The Union may at any time draw Safety hazards to the attention of this Committee. The Company will not require employees to work under conditions which are unsafe or injurious. Health and Safety Representatives from the union and management will conduct a monthly inspection of the premises to identify potential health and safety situations so that they may be corrected. The Company agrees to provide proper rest room facilities including a cot or day bed apart from the lounge area, for use of employees in case of illness. The Company will post a notice which indicates the location of this room on the bulletin board. A total of five (5) days per year will be allowed for the Health and Safety Committee to attend approved Health and Safety courses. The Company will be responsible for associated costs, i.e. mileage, accommodations,meals, and lost time.
