Apprentice Training. The Employer recognises that in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Employer, a significant commitment to structured training and skill development is required. They also recognise the importance of the apprenticeship system to the construction industry. Therefore the Parties agree:

Apprentice Training. 1. It is the mutual intention of the parties that the Fund referred to in Article XXII of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement includes, encompasses and specifically provides for the conduct of an Apprentice Training Program.
Apprentice Training. (a) In order to properly and fully train learners in the art of meat cutting, the span of control is fixed at one (1) apprentice to every four (4) journeymen or fraction thereof, and apprentices shall be employed in accordance with this formula. Markets employing less than four (4) journeymen may employ and train one (1) apprentice.

They also recognise the importance of the apprenticeship system to the construction industry and agree: • if the Employer employs seven (7) or more tradespeople in any one classification it undertakes to employ an apprentice(s) or make arrangements to host an apprentice from an agreed scheme; • the Employer is committed to ensuring that apprentices receive appropriate on the job training by experienced tradespeople and apprentice numbers are maximised, to this end the Employer will endeavour to maintain at least one apprentice to every seven (7) tradespeople; and • if the Employer does not currently have an apprentice as provided for in paragraph (a) above, reasonable time shall be allowed to enable the Employer to comply with this clause. Further, the Parties are committed to a strong ratio of apprentices in the industry. Apprentice Training. 6 The ratio of apprentices to journeymen on all 7 work covered by this agreement shall be at 8 least one (1) in five (5) when available. Apprentice Training. The parties recognize that the Apprentice training program is being phased-in to support future updates that are jointly developed by the training subcommittee. In support of the on-going need to make related training updates including necessary curriculum modifications, updates will be provided to the JATC on a monthly basis to ensure knowledge and understanding of those changes. Apprentice Training. 31 32 The Employer agrees to participate in the Joint Apprentice 33 Selection and Training Programs which have been established for 34 the respective unions and which are in active and regular operation 35 in compliance with Federal and/or State apprenticeship standards. 36 For such programs, the Employer agrees to contribute ($.05) per 37 hour for every hour worked by a journeyperson in the respective 1 trade covered under this Agreement into the appropriate joint 2 apprentice training trust fund for that trade which shall be 3 established and administered in compliance with Section 302 of 4 the Labor Management Relations Act, 1947. Such trades shall 5 include all those listed in Article 1, Recognition. 7 No such payment shall be made, however, except on written 8 request of the specific trade(s) involved, and only upon 9 certification of the President of the Xxxxxxxx-Cortland Counties 10 Building Trades Council that all of the conditions of this section 11 have been met. 13 Such funds will be paid annually on or before July 31 where they 14 have been earned as specified in this section. 16 The University agrees to provide the Union with a list of the 17 journeypersons and their hours worked when such payment is 18 made.
