Annually Contracted Faculty. A. The Role of Annually Contracted Faculty The parties recognize the importance of full-time, tenure-track faculty in ensuring academic quality and providing students with continuous access to high-quality faculty support. The parties further recognize that fiscal uncertainties and changing needs of the community might sometimes necessitate additional flexibility in meeting the College’s instructional staffing needs. Annually Contracted Faculty (ACF) are intended to provide short-term solutions to rapidly changing needs of the Academic Divisions.

Annually Contracted Faculty. (1) During the first three years of employment at the University, an employee shall earn sick leave at the rate of 20 work days per academic year or 1.75 work days for each month, or major fraction thereof, of service under the employee's contract, whichever is greater. Thereafter, the employee shall earn sick leave at the rate of 1.75 workdays for each month, or major fraction thereof, of service under the employee's contract, irrespective of the term of the employee's contract. During the first three years of employment at the University, sick leave will be credited to employees at the beginning of each academic year. Thereafter, sick leave shall be earned on a monthly basis. No additional sick leave will accrue to an employee during a month in which that employee was on sick leave for the entire month.

Annually Contracted Faculty. An annually contracted faculty member with a seniority number of 10 or greater may apply for a reduced teaching load for one semester for the purpose of obtaining further training in new areas of current subject expertise and/or pedagogy development. This application may be granted at the discretion of the University President (subject to the provisions of 24.2 d-f).
Annually Contracted Faculty. Section 22.01 – Annually Contracted Faculty (“ACF”) Annually Contracted Faculty (“ACF”) are faculty who hold the same qualifications or degree required of full-time tenure-track faculty. ACF are generally hired for one-year annual appointments, based on the academic year. At the discretion of the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs or their designee, an ACF may also be hired for a two-year appointment in order to meet departmental needs or special program needs. In addition, to meet enrollment needs, an ACF may be hired for a single semester, in which case the College would notify the Association of such need. Prior to hiring an ACF in a department that has, for one year or more, a vacant and funded tenure-track position, the College will, at the request of the Association, review and discuss in a Labor Management Committee meeting the circumstances surrounding the tenure-track vacancy and the future plan for filling the vacancy. The employment relationship between the College and an ACF member will terminate unless the appointment is mutually renewed. The provisions of this Article pertain only to ACF. ACF shall be eligible for all rights and privileges outlined in this Agreement except as specified in this section.
