AND STEWARDS. (a) The Employer agrees to recognize six (6) stewards to be selected by the Union and to recog- nize a Grievance Committee which shall consist of the Local President and any two (2) stewards. The Union agrees to advise the Employer of the names of the Local President and the stewards. All stew- ards shall be regular employees of the Board who have completed the probationary period. It is the intention of the parties to have the xxxxxxx for each administrative area process the grievances in that area. When the xxxxxxx for the area is unable to act because of illness, vacation, or other conflict of interest, the Employer will recog- nize a replacement xxxxxxx provided that the stew- ard is selected with a view to minimizing travel time and work disruption. The Employer undertakes to instruct all mem- bers of its supervisory staff to cooperate with the stewards and Union officers in the carrying out of the terms and requirements of this Agreement. The Union undertakes to secure from its offi- cers, stewards and members their cooperation with the Employer and with all persons representing the Employer in any supervisory capacity. The privilege of stewards and members of the Grievance Committee to leave their work station without loss of basic pay to attend to Union busi- ness is granted on the following conditions:

The Company agrees to recognize a Union Bar- gaining Committee from and representing the em- ployees, such Committee not to exceed four (4) members, all of whom shall be of the Company’s Miscellaneous Capital Revamp Group. The Union Grievance Committee from and representing the employees, such Committee not to exceed two (2) members and one (1) group xxxxxxx, all of whom shall be tem- porary employees of the Company’s Miscellaneous Capital Revamp Group. The Company agrees to pay straight time to emplo- yees for work time lost while attending Company Union meetings during regular work hours. In lieu of a xxxxxxx, a named alternate will be recognized. All such stewards and/or alternates will be temporary the Company’s Miscellaneous Revamp Group who are members of the Union. The Union will provide the Companywith an up-to- date list of the Union Bargaining Committee, Union Grievance Committee, Union group stewards and alternate stewards. The four members of the Bargaining Committee shall head the seniority list in their respectivegroups during their terms of office. Such seniority shall apply only with respect to layoffs.

Union Stewards or members of Union Committees shall not absent themselves from their place of duty for Union business, including discussion of grievances, unless prior permission is granted by their supervisor. In order to deal with Union Grievances up to and including Stage Three of the Grievance Procedure, such persons shall not be unreasonably refused permission to absent themselves, taking into consideration the efficient operation of facilities and functions for the Employer. It is understood that for such approved absences under Article the Employer will not make any wage deductions from the affected Employees. It is agreed and understood that, excepting negotiations meetings, a meeting called and agreed upon by the Employer and the Union which requires attendance of the Union Employees during their hours of employ, there will be no loss of wages while attending such joint meetings.

The Union undertakes to instruct its officers, stewards, and members to co-operate with the Com- pany and with all persons representing the Company in any supervisory capacity. The Company agrees to reimburse, at regular day rates, up to four (4)members of the negotiating committee for time spent in negotiations. Such time to be that which such employees would normally have worked if not involved in the contract negotiations.
