Amendment of Definitions Subject to Section 2.01 hereof, the Indenture is hereby amended by deleting any definitions from the Indenture with respect to which references would be eliminated as a result of the amendments of the Indenture pursuant to Section 1.01 hereof.

Name and Definitions Section 1. Name. The name of the Trust is "VANGUARD BOND INDEX FUNDS" and the Trustees shall conduct the business of the Trust under that name or any other name as they may from time to time determine. If the Trustees determine to change the name of the Trust, they may adopt such other name for the Trust as they deem proper. Any name change shall become effective upon approval by the Trustees of such change and the filing of a certificate of amendment under the Delaware Act. Plan and Defined Terms This award is granted under and subject to the terms of the 2005 Stock Incentive Compensation Plan and the Stock Incentive Compensation Plan (2005) Addendum dated July 5, 2005 (together the “Plan”), which is incorporated herein by reference. Capitalized terms used herein and not defined in the Agreement (including Section 7 hereof) shall have the meaning set forth in the Plan. To the extent any conflict between the terms of this Agreement and the Plan, the terms of the Plan shall control.
