Afternoon and Night Shift Allowances. The rationalisation of shift allowances recognises the need for a simplified program of shift payments. An employee who is working on shift will be paid 15% more than the ordinary rate from the start of the shift to midnight and 30% more than ordinary rate from midnight and 30% more than ordinary rate from midnight until the end of that shift. Note: This covers all shift patterns including those that do not exceed 5 working days.
