Common use of Administrative Leave Clause in Contracts

Administrative Leave. The University may place a bargaining unit member on administrative leave with pay when such leave is to be used in circumstances where the health or safety of an employee, or of any person or property entrusted to the employee’s care, could be adversely affected. The University agrees that such action shall not be arbitrary or capricious. Compensation for administrative leave will be equal to the employee’s total rate of pay. The length of such leave is solely at the discretion of the appointing authority, but shall not exceed the length of the situation for which the leave was granted.
