Additional Preparation Time. A teacher in an intermediate, middle or senior high school with an enrollment of five hundred (500) or less may be granted additional preparation time if the teacher has more than two (2) academic levels and two (2) subject matter fields as provided in Article VI, Section F - Subject Matter and Grade Level, subject to the approval of the CAS.

Additional Preparation Time. If a teacher has five (5) classes with different preparations each day, s/he will be entitled to two (2) periods of unassigned preparation time. A class with different preparation is one in which either one or both of the following occur: (1) a class with a different class title or (2) a class that requires the use of significantly different instructional materials than are used in the teacher's other class assignments and meets in different class periods. For this section a period describes a block of time of approximately fifty (50) minutes in length. A change in the length of a period or the number of periods in a day can be made only after the principal has met with teacher representatives as appointed by the LSHEA to discuss the rationale of the proposed changes. Should any teacher voluntarily agree to exceed any of the above stated limitations such agreement shall be with the consent of the teacher and shall not be construed as setting a precedent for future considerations.
Additional Preparation Time. Elementary teachers are expected to schedule class time to take care of their students' physical needs. Teachers may, if they desire additional preparation time, and where it does not interfere with scheduled language arts and math blocks, schedule common physical activity periods during which only one (1) teacher shall be required to supervise every three (3) classes. However, in no instance shall an elementary teacher's total preparation time (50 minutes daily) plus released time due to scheduling common physical activity periods exceed five (5) hours and fifteen (15) minutes per week.
