Common use of Additional Leave Clause in Contracts

Additional Leave. Employees who continue to be off work following the expiration of their paid sick leave, shall be placed on leave of absence without pay for up to twenty-eight (28) calendar days. If the employee requires additional unpaid leave this must be requested in writing prior to the expiration of the aforementioned twenty-eight (28) calendar days and such additional unpaid leave shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees on such leave must maintain contact with their Employer and indicate their expected date of return at least one week in advance.
