Activities carried out for this Project and expenses incurred by the Recipient may predate the execution date of this Agreement provided that 1) they have been identified by Recipient as being within the scopes of nos. 2) and 3) below, and have been approved by the County as being within such scopes; 2) The activities are specified in the Scope of Work of this Agreement; 3) the expenses are incurred in carrying out the Scope of Work and are authorized by this award as identified in the Budget of this Agreement; 4) such activities and expenses otherwise comply with all other terms of this Agreement; and 5) reimbursements shall be paid to the Recipient only after this Agreement has been fully executed.

Activities carried out under contract before the entry into force of this Agreement shall require no authorization for such contracts and their extensions to continue to be valid in accordance with the requirements of Spanish law. For such activities, the only other requirement shall be for approval of access by contractor personnel who previously have not been granted such access under Article 15.5 of this Agreement.

Activities carried out to promote the awareness of the importance of the conservation of bats The Xth Teriological School (Annual meeting of the Ukrainian Theriological Society) “Island effects and GIS” (Crimea) on October 7-12, 2003. One of the main topics of the Theriological School’2003 was devoted to the field training of bat censuses. Agenda of the Theriological Schools includes special session devoted to bats and their protection, as well the action "European Bat Night in Ukraine", that includes presentation of scientific findings, slides and pictures, new editions and projects etc. During 2003, the Rehabilitation Centre for Bats (Kyiv) gives the refuge 25 specimens of 5 bat species. Activists of Ukrainian CEntre for BAt protection are organisers of a row of activities directed to the distribution of information about bats, their biology and necessity of their conservation among broad public. Some publications have been given for magazines and newspapers. The web-site of UCEBA (xxxx://xxxxxx.xxx.xx) devoted to bats of Ukraine was built for distribution of information both for specialists and not specialists. The results of bat investigations carried out by Ukrainian scientists are reflected on publications in the following topics: general and regional reviews of bat fauna, distribution of bats in Ukraine, bat ecology, study of migrations etc. List of papers published in 2002-2003 years by Ukrainian chiropterologists on Ukrainian bat fauna is presented in the Annex 1.

Activities carried out to promote the awareness of the importance of the conservation of bats A comprehensive exhibition on bats was established in the castle of Lockenhaus, Burgenland. The exhibition itself and guided tours are provided in German and Hungarian. A webcam broadcasts live images from a Xxxxxxxx’x bat’s colony to the exhibition. BatLife Österreich provided scientific guidance in curating the exhibition, training guides and organising regular events. – In Styria, a temporary exhibition on bat biology has been curated by BatLife Österreich and is shown in the castle Thannhausen. BatLife Österreich lends travelling toolboxes focused on bat biology to all types of schools and helps to plan and implement individualised school projects. Brochures on bats in Nature Parks in Burgenland and on bat biology and ecology accompanying the exhibition in Lockenhaus as well as on bats in churches of Burgenland were made available to the public. Two issues of BatNews (a regular newsletter) are sent to BatLife members each year and made available to the public on the website. Emergence observations and bat talks for the general public and in combination with school projects are organised by BatLife Österreich and KFFÖ (Koordinationsstelle für Fledermausforschung und –xxxxxx)
