Acting Captain. All qualified personnel shall be considered to work out of class (Acting Captain) when the need arises. Acting Captain. Detectives and Sergeants on the Captain Promotion Eligibility List shall be given an opportunity to serve as an Acting Captain, at the per diem base pay of a Captain, to fill temporary vacancies in the following manner: Each vacancy in the Department known to be temporary at the time it occurs will be filled by the individual highest on the Captain’s Eligibility List for that station and shift, or unit and shift. If there is no one available in the station and shift, or unit and shift, who is on the Captain’s Eligibility List, then the Department Seniority List from that station and shift, or unit and shift, will be used. If no one on the Department Seniority List from that station and shift, or unit and shift, volunteers, then the Senior Sergeant or Detective from that station and shift, or unit and shift shall be used to fill the vacancy. For the Bureau of Operations the acting Assistant Division Commander will come from Shift 1 and the acting Division Executive Officer will come from Shift 3. Per Diem Pay shall commence on the first day of such service following the Captain’s regular days off.
Acting Captain. Effective July 1, 2006, 2.8 hours of regular firefighter's wages will be given for each full work shift worked out of grade. Payments will be prorated if a shift is split between employees. Effective October 1, 2017, firefighters assigned to work out of grade as a Captain will be paid an additional 18% of the firefighter’s base rate as shown on the salary schedule for actual hours assigned and worked out of grade. Fire Apparatus Operators assigned to work out of grade as a Captain will be paid an additional 14% of the Fire Apparatus Operator’s base rate as shown on the salary schedule for actual hours assigned and worked out of grade. Assignments shall be made first from the current captain's eligibility list from personnel on duty, then as assigned by the Fire Chief or his/her designee.

All check-off items shall be signed by a Company Officer or Battalion Chief.

Acting Captain. Members acting as a Captain for more than four consecutive weeks shall be paid an additional five percent (5%) above their base hourly rate, for all times spent in the acting position as a premium for all time spent working out of grade.
Acting Captain. The Fire Chief will establish a list of eligible employees that may serve as the acting Captain. The Acting Captain list will be comprised of those employees who are on the Captain promotional hire eligibility list or completed an Acting Captain’s Taskbook. All acting Captains will receive Department-designated training and education that is designed to assure the employee is capable of leading the City’s fire forces in both emergency and non-emergency settings. Acting Captains will be used at the discretion of the Fire Chief or his designee. Acting Captains will be assigned only after all regular Captains have been provided the opportunity to work the shift in which Captain Xxxxxxxx is needed, as determined by the Fire Chief. Acting Captain will not be assigned involuntarily to work during periods they are not otherwise scheduled to work.
Acting Captain. An Ocean Lifeguard Specialist who is assigned to perform all of the duties of the position of Captain, Lifeguard Services, Fire or Rescue Boat Captain, on a full-time basis is entitled to receive additional compensation in the form of a bonus (Acting Captain Xxxxx) in accordance with the following provisions:
