Accumulation of Vacation Leave Credits. P a g e | 4 Entitlement to Vacation Leave with Pay An employee is entitled to vacation leave except where a person who, on leaving the Public Service, takes or has taken severance pay. However, employees who have received a severance with pay to join the extent of the employee's earned credits but an employee who has completed six (6) months of continuous employment may receive an advance of credits equivalent to the anticipated credits for the vacation year. Scheduling of Vacation Leave with Pay Employees are expected to take all their vacation leave during the vacation year in which it is earned. The Employer shall, subject to the operational requirements of the service, make every reasonable effort to: schedule an employee's vacation leave in the vacation year in which it is earned; schedule the employee's vacation leave with pay for at least two (2) consecutive weeks, during the period requested, provided written notice of the period requested is given by the employee as soon as possible after April 1st but not later than May 31st; schedule the employee's vacation leave with pay on any other basis than that specified in clause 6.05 (b), if the employee gives the Employer at least five (5) days' advance written notice for requests of vacation leave with pay of five (5) days or received severance less. Upon request from the employee, the Employer may for good and sufficient reason schedule vacation leave with pay on shorter notice than that specified in clauses 6.05(b) and 6.05(c). If an employee requests vacation leave with pay in lay-off accordance with clause 6.05 and were within one year following the date Employer denies their request due to the operational requirements of the lay-off are excluded from this restrictionservice, the Employer agrees to make every reasonable effort, subject to the operational requirements of the service, to comply with any subsequent request made by the employee concerning their vacation leave.
