Accumulated Sick Leave Pay. 23.1 The Board shall grant any certificated/licensed staff member who elects to receive retirement from the Ohio State Teachers Retirement System severance payments equal to thirty percent (30%) up to 300 days of accumulated sick leave not to exceed 90 days (30% of 300_90), provided such certificated/licensed staff member has been continuously employed by Union Local for nine (9) years. Severance payments will be paid in July following retirement, after the certificated/licensed staff member presents his or her first retirement check to the school board's treasurer. This provision will not apply to any certificated/licensed staff member who retires prior to January 31. Any certificated/licensed staff member who meets the above requirements and who has accumulated thirty- five (35) years of service, with twenty-five (25) of those years being with the Union Local School District, shall receive severance payments equal to forty percent (40%) up to 300 days of accumulated sick leave not to exceed one hundred 120 days (40% of 300=120).
Accumulated Sick Leave Pay. At the time of retirement, a teacher who has excess sick-leave days accumulated and not used for retirement purposes shall be compensated at the rate of forty dollars ($40.00) a day for up to a maximum of fifty (50) days. The Board will deduct for each teacher a sum equal to the percentage required by the State of Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) to be applied for the retirement account of such teacher, if the teacher has not met the six percent (6%) maximum. Each teacher will also have deducted from the above figure the State of Illinois rate for TeachersHealth Insurance System (THIS) contribution.
