Absences. [a] Whenever a job sharing teacher is absent from work, the school may assign a substitute teacher or may allow the other job sharing teacher to substitute for the absent teacher at the long term substitute rate. This rate shall be adjusted to the appropriate full-time contract rate if the job sharing partner substitutes for his/her job sharing partner for ten (10) or more consecutive work days. [b] In the event that one job sharing employee terminates during the school year, the other job sharing employee shall assume the full job responsibility until a replacement can be hired. The District will make every reasonable effort to fill the vacant position in a timely manner. When this occurs the “covering” employee shall receive the appropriate full-time contract pay rate during the interim.
