Watch Commander definition

Watch Commander means a Department sworn employee, usually at the rank of Lieutenant, who has responsibility within a specific Custody Facility for line operations during a designated shift.
Watch Commander s/he shall receive a premium of five percent (5) of his/her their base (exclusive of all other additions) hourly wage for all time so designated provided, however, no more than one (1) SrDPO may be so designated for the same period.

Examples of Watch Commander in a sentence

  • State Attorney Pre-Trial Meetings shall be scheduled through the Operations Bureau Administrative Assistant unless an emergency exists, in such case the on-duty Watch Commander is authorized to approve such a meeting.

  • Pager or cellular numbers will be provided to the Department or Watch Commander upon request.

  • Any change in pager or cellular numbers will be reported immediately to the Watch Commander.

  • Employees may not request both cash and compensatory time off for Watch Commander duty performed on the same workday.

  • The tow service provider must honor all “no charge” or “reduced charge” towing fee waiver requests made by an authorized Anaheim Police Department Watch Commander, Traffic Sergeant (or higher rank) or Detective Sergeant (or higher rank).

  • Emergency annual leave requests for up to one work shift may be granted by the Watch Commander at any time for bona fide emergencies where the established advance notice is not possible.

  • Officers who are willing to accept and work a position, temporarily, in a higher classification shall submit their names to the appropriate Watch Commander at the beginning of the year.

  • A Lieutenant who serves as a Watch Commander officer shall receive extra pay for each such week of immediate availability as follows: ”Watch Commander” duty is paid at one-fifth (1/5) the regular hourly rate for each hour of such duty (rounded to the nearest whole cent).

  • It is the employee’s responsibility to notify their supervisor or the on-duty Watch Commander that their schedule is approaching the sixteen (16) hours of consecutive work and their need for the rest provisions above.
