Direct anthropogenic impacts are related to hydrological - flow modification patterns due to weirs, dams, and over abstractions; alteration such as canalisation, riparian infrastructure, infilling; over-exploitation of fish and invertebrates; pollution from Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTWs) and other sources within the catchment; and manipulation of estuary mouths.
