Violence in the Workplace. (a) The parties agree that violence shall be defined as any incident in which an employee is abused, threatened or assaulted while performing his or her work. The parties agree it includes the application of force, threats with or without weapons and severe verbal abuse. The parties agree that such incidents will not be condoned. Any employee who believes he/she has been subjected to such incident shall report this to a supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the situation. For purposes of sub-article (a) only, employees as referred to herein shall mean all employees of the Employer notwithstanding Article 2.12.

Violence in the Workplace. Should an employee become a victim of an act of violence or threatened act of violence in the workplace, the Employer shall perform the following;

This includes the application of force, threats with or without weapons, as well as severe verbal abuse. The Hospital agrees that such incidents will not be condoned in the workplace. Any nurse who encounters such acts of violence in the workplace shall verbally report the incident to his/her supervisor immediately and complete an Unusual Occurrence Report, whether experienced directly by the nurse or if witnessed as an incident involving another employee.
Violence in the Workplace. The parties recognize that employees may be exposed to unwanted behaviour from others in the workplace and that such behaviour may result in injury and/or emotional distress to an employee. The Hospital agrees to continue its development of explicit policies and procedures to deal with such situations and shall submit such policies to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee for review. The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee shall concern itself with those matters and shall make such recommendations as it deems appropriate. Further, the Committee will review the document ‘Violence in the Workplace’ and make recommendations as may be deemed appropriate.
