University Professor definition

University Professor means a teacher engaged in giving instruction in any department or institute maintained by the University for imparting instruction to the students of the University in the post graduate standard or for guiding research work or both and possessing such qualifications as may be prescribed by the Statutes;

University Professor or “ University R eader” means a Professor or Reader appointed or recognised as such by the University.

• All appointments other than those of Distinguished and University Professor shall be made by the chancellor or the chancellor's designee, under the appointment authority of the president of the University of Alaska.

• Instructional faculty are eligible for the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and program grants, development awards and funds (with the exception of Faculty Fellowship leaves, University Professor awards, Presidential Research Scholar Awards, and Presidential Teacher Awards).

• Except for University Distinguished Professor and University Professor, these faculty titles carry a major field or departmental designator, such as Professor of Linguistics or Professor of Pharmacology.

• Designation as Distinguished University Professor shall include an annual allocation of funds to support his or her professional activities, to be expended in accordance with applicable University policies.

• A University Professor may offer courses in any College with the approval of the Dean and departmental faculty of the College concerned.
