Union Business definition

Union Business means all issues and required actions related to the administration of the Local By-laws and ATU Constitution and general laws, this includes conferences, education and training.
Union Business as used in this section means legitimate business activities directly involved in representing bargaining unit members, such as: attending meetings, conferences and training, and meeting with represented employees to discuss collective bargaining matters. It does not include any events or activities that are primarily social, athletic, fundraising or recreational in nature. In order to use union leave it must be requested in accordance with procedures adopted by the Division of Fire and Rescue Services and approved by the Union President.
Union Business. The business agent(s) shall be permitted to transact official business at schools or administrative offices during working hours. The business agent(s) shall contact the principal or director of the school or department concerned for permission to conduct official business. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit Union representatives from requesting meetings or conferences with appropriate school officials.

Examples of Union Business in a sentence

  • Notwithstanding the above, time spent by the eight (8) Executive Board members and seven (7) Alternate Executive Board members of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions to fulfill the duties of the position shall be in addition to leave for Union Business under this clause.
