Underinsured Patient definition

Underinsured Patient means a patient who has some form of health insurance coverage but has a significant self- pay responsibility which they cannot afford to pay.
Underinsured Patient means a patient who, despite having insurance coverage, finds the obligation to pay insurance, copayments, coinsurance and deductibles is such a financial burden that he or she delays or does not receive medically necessary health care services due to the health care costs.

Underinsured Patient means a patient of a CRMC Hospital Facility who has some level of insurance or third party assistance who nevertheless remains obligated to pay out-of-pocket expenses for the provision of eligible services that exceed such individual's financial abilities and is deemed medically indigent or meets the income and asset requirements as listed on Schedule A, as made part of this document.
Underinsured Patient means a patient who has private or public insurance, but who incurs high medical costs in relation to the patient’s family income. An underinsured patient’s family income does not exceed 350% of the FPL, and the patient has incurred annual out-of-pocket medical costs that exceed 10% of the patient’s family income in the prior 12 months. In order to qualify for financial assistance as an underinsured patient, Lifespan requires each patient or family to complete a confidential FAP Application and to provide documentation of all out-of- pocket medical costs incurred over the prior 12 months.
Underinsured Patient means a patient of Ingalls who is covered under a policy of health insurance (including a government payer such as Medicare or Medicaid) but for whom (i) the amount or type of benefit coverage does not cover the charges for the care provided, (ii) the insurer does not have a contract with Ingalls, or (iii) the insurance policy limits have been exceeded. “Uninsured Patient” means a patient of Ingalls who is not covered under a policy of health insurance and is not a beneficiary under a public or private health insurance plan, health benefit, or other health coverage program, including but not limited to high deductible health insurance plans, workers’ compensation, accident liability insurance, or other third party liability insurance.
