Time value of money definition

Time value of money means the time-dependent value of money. The adjustment of cash flows to a common time basis is necessary to take into account the real earning potential of investment over time.
Time value of money means that a person places a higher value on money in one point in time than on the same money at a different point in time.(PowerPoint Slide 4)
Time value of money in layman terms, means that the value of money today is worth more than the value of money tomorrow, e.g. the utility value of a dollar today is more than the utility value of a dollar one year from today. Today’s financial markets are often driven by sophisticated corruptions of this concept; in an effort to exploit inefficiencies via the strategic deployment of capital.
