Tagout definition

Tagout means the placement of a tagout device on an energy isolating device, in accordance with an established procedure, to indicate that the energy isolating device and the equipment being controlled may not be operated until the tagout device is removed by the individual who established the tag or by a person designated by the chief elevator inspec- tor.
Tagout means to clearly indicate, by hanging tag plates, that a device is in lockout and that operation of the device is prohibited.
