Special Assignment definition

Special Assignment designation shall be upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police and subject to approval by the City Manager and shall be limited to only those positions within the bargaining unit below the rank of Sergeant. Special assignments may include but need not, and are not limited to: Training Officer, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Detective, Community Services Officer, and assignment to the SWAT or Crisis Negotiation Team. The Chief has complete discretion to pay or not to pay Special Assignment pay. Such designation would be limited to a specific employee while performing in an extraordinary manner and would terminate when either of these criteria were absent.
Special Assignment means the temporary assignment, for up to six months, of the duties and responsibilities of another position to an employee in the same agency.
Special Assignment means a temporary assignment within the In- Flight Service Department or duties related to In-Flight Services and/or duties of a Flight Attendant.

  • Police Officers who are routinely and consistently assigned to a Special Assignment, including the Motorcycle Patrol, Detective Division/Investigations Bureau, School Resource/Juvenile Officer, Canine Officer, Police Investigator/Special Enforcement Team, Police Liaison (Broadway Plaza or Mental Health), Lead Worker/Supervisor (Corporal), or designated as a Field Training/Training Officer, are eligible to receive Special Assignment Pay.

  • In addition to the Special Assignment Pay as set forth in sub-sections 9.A.- 9.D., both the City and the POA understand that the Canine Program has Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) implications.

  • The City shall report Special Assignment Pay periodically as earned to CalPERS as either special compensation for Classic members or pensionable compensation for PEPRA members.

Special Assignment is when a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department employee who is ordinarily assigned to the City under this Agreement is temporarily assigned by the Sheriff’s Department for another purpose and is therefore not performing services for the City. Prior to any Special Assignment, the City delegate will meet with the Undersheriff or delegate to review and mutually approve any Special Assignment activities and the duration of same. Prior approval shall not be required in the event of an emergency. An “emergency” for the purposes of this paragraph shall be a declared local, state or federal emergency. The City may revisit this term and negotiate alternative staffing, cost reductions or further modifications to the costs under this Agreement as a result of Special Assignments.
Special Assignment is set to expire/end (after 2 years), the incumbent may submit a new written letter of interest (i.e. may reapply; at the time when all other interested Deputies are applying), explaining why he/she should again be selected for (i.e. remain in) the "Career Enhancement" "Special Assignment" for an additional two (2) year period.
