SONEDE definition

SONEDE means the Recipient’s national utility in charge of exploitation and distribution of water established through Decree No. 18-079/PR portant statut de la Société Nationale d’Exploitation et de Distribution des Eaux dated September 12, 2018.

  • SONEDE shall at all times operate and maintain its plant, machinery, equipment and other property, and from time to time, promptly as needed, make all necessary repairs and renewals thereof, all in accordance with sound engineering, financial and public utility practices.

  • No later than three (3) months after the Effective Date, the Recipient shall establish and thereafter maintain, throughout the implementation of the Project, a technical committee (“Technical Committee”) with composition and mandate acceptable to the Association (including representatives from SONEDE and MEEH), which shall provide technical support to the PIU, as further described in the PIM.

  • An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the Project was prepared by SONEDE and has already been approved by the National Agency for Environmental Protection in November 2016.

  • The Code lays out reforms necessary to improve water resource management, in particular the harmonization of procedures across all islands, extending the authority of SONEDE to the urban areas within Anjouan and Moheli.

  • Members of the Project Steering Committee will include UNDP, representatives from the Ministries of Environment, Economy, Transport, Health and Interior as well as SONEDE, UCEA, UCEM and EDA.
