Scholarly Work definition

Scholarly Work means a copyrightable work created by any University Personnel as evidence of academic advancement or academic accomplishment including, but not limited to, scholarly publications, journal articles, research-based bulletins, monographs, books, (excluding case-studies and textbooks and other works of commercial value),plays, poems and musical compositions.
Scholarly Work means a Work created in the course of teaching, learning or research at the University. Scholarly Works include, but are not limited to: student works submitted for academic evaluation, research reports, papers prepared for publication, books, computer programs, detailed assignments, detailed teaching materials, such as course notes, works of art and experimental data.
Scholarly Work means Work produced as a result of an Academic Member’s research activities at the University. “Scholarly Work” includes, but is not limited to, grant and other funding applications, research Data and academic databases, books, textbooks, monographs, articles papers, studies, and reports prepared for publication, the content of which is of academic concern, but does not include any Works that are “Teaching Materials” or “Assigned Task Materials” as defined herein.

More Definitions of Scholarly Work

Scholarly Work means any article, book, manual, musical composition, creative writing or like publication or any digital or electronic version of these written by a Staff Member (whether alone or otherwise) based on the Staff Member’s (or other person’s) scholarship, learning or research, but does notinclude work that is a computer program, Teaching Material or administrative material;
Scholarly Work means an original literary or academic work that is protectable pursuant to Canadian copyright legislation and that is created primarily for an academic or scientific purpose such as publication in a scientific outlet, presentation at a scientific conference or professional meeting, or completion of a student paper, thesis, or other requirement of an academic program.
Scholarly Work means books, articles and other publications, artistic creations, literary manuscripts, visual and auditory creations, and musical works, irrespective of their medium of storage or presentation. The former items are meant to include software, computer programs, and databases, but only if they are accessory to or part of a scholarly text. Textbooks and related software developed as a Specific University Assignment are not considered a Scholarly Work for the purpose of this definition.
Scholarly Work is defined as any copyrightable property not otherwise expressly excluded by this Agreement, including, but not limited to, copyrightable property: (a) embodied in books, textbooks, manuscripts, works of art or design, musical scores and performances, dramatic works and performances, choreographic works, popular fiction and non-fiction, poems, training materials, or other works of the kinds that have historically been deemed in academic communities to be the property of their author, including lectures notes, course outlines, syllabi, handouts, lab manuals, assignments, exercises, tests, and rubrics developed to support teaching activities, in whatever form, that are created or developed in the regular course of teaching duties or student activity; (b) any additional work developed for online and hybrid courses to include produced videos, animations, games, simulations, digital lessons or modules, courseware, and other similar works; (c) embodied in a storage medium such as film, videos, audio recordings, multimedia materials, distance learning materials, courseware;
Scholarly Work means the traditional results of academic scholarship, including, without limitation, copyrightable works such as textbooks, literary works, data compilations, artistic creations and artifacts, but excluding Commissioned Course Materials.
