Research and Development (R&D definition

Research and Development (R&D means any activity which is: a systematic study directed at applying new knowledge to meet a recognized need; or a systematic application of knowledge toward the production of useful materials, devices and systems or methods, including design, development and improvement of prototypes, and new processes to meet specific requirements.
Research and Development (R&D or “R&D Activity” means a scientific investigation that explores the development of new goods and services, new inputs into production, new methods of producing goods and services, or new ways of operating and managing organizations. Specific R&D Activities consist of: standard test/measurement/analysis; test/measurement/analysis report; specific thermo-mechanical analysis methodology development projects; product/process design/engineering; customized product/process/ technology development project; related evaluation and feasibility studies; applied research projects for new product concepts, new technology platforms and new test/measurement/analysis; basic scientific research for creating better understanding and insights in new phenomena; research to advance scientific knowledge with or without a specific practical application in view; and, support work in engineering, design, operations
