Professional Review Action definition

Professional Review Action means any action or recommendation of a Professional Review Body which is taken or made in the conduct of Professional Review Activity, which is based on the competence or professional conduct of a health care provider and which affects, or may affect such individual’s Staff Membership and/or Clinical Privileges.4
Professional Review Action means an action or recommendation which is taken or made in the conduct of professional peer review activity, which is based on the competence or professional conduct of a staff member, and which affects or may affect adversely the clinical privileges or appointment of the individual.
Professional Review Action means an action or recommendation of a health care entity: (1) taken in the course of professional review activity; (2) based on the professional competence or professional conduct of an individual health care practitioner which affects or could affect adversely the health or welfare of a patient; and (3) which adversely affects or may adversely affect the clinical privileges or membership in a professional society of the health care practitioner.

Examples of Professional Review Action in a sentence

A recommendation of the Medical Board or a determination of the Board not to grant a waiver of the threshold eligibility criteria is not a “denial” of Membership or Clinical Privileges, nor is it a Professional Review Action.

Such precautionary suspension or restriction shall be deemed an interim step in the Professional Review Activity, but it is not a complete Professional Review Action in and of itself.

Revisions include reversal of a Professional Review Action or reinstatement of the Practitioner’s participation in Anthem’s programs or networks.

This obligation to indemnify arises only where the individual is a party or is threatened to be a party by reason of the fact that he or she is or was a director, officer, employee or agent of the Hospital or Medical Staff, served as an agent or personnel of a Peer Review Committee and the claim, allegation, complaint, or charge is directly related to their participation and role on a Peer Review Committee or in a Professional Review Action.

Professional Review Action means an action or recommendation of a professional review committee that is taken or made in the conduct of professional review activity and that is based on the quality and appropriateness of patient care provided by, or the competence or professional conduct of, an individual person licensed under article 36 of this title or licensed under article 38 of this title and granted authority as an advanced practice nurse, which action affects or may affect adversely the person's clinical privileges of or membership in an authorized entity. "Professional review action" includes a formal decision by the professional review committee not to take an action or make a recommendation as provided in this paragraph (a) and also includes professional review activities relating to a professional review action. An action is not based upon the competence or professional conduct of a person if the action is primarily based on:
Professional Review Action means an action or recommendation of a peer review committee which is taken or made in the conduct of professional review activity, which is based on the competence or professional conduct of an individual practitioner (which conduct affects or could affect adversely the health or welfare of a patient or patients or is disruptive or not conducive to the orderly operation of the Hospital), and which affects (or may affect) adversely the clinical privileges of the practitioner. Such term includes a formal decision of a professional review body not to take an action or make a recommendation and also includes professional review activities relating to a professional review action and shall further mean any activity of the hospital with respect to an individual practitioner to determine whether the practitioner may or may not have clinical privileges with respect to, or membership in, the hospital, to determine the scope or condition of such privileges or membership, or to change or modify such privileges or membership.
