Product Diversity definition

Product Diversity. (PD) means making better use of the language, skills, business networks and market knowledge of Australia’s diverse workforce and population, for the economic and social benefits of all Australians (Population Flows: Immigration Aspects, 2004). These reasons clearly support the idea that immigrants generally play an important role in Australia’s economy and particularly in small business development. According to the ‘Product Diversity’ concept, the workforce becomes more productive when the employees come from diverse backgrounds. They bring advantages to organisations such as range of language skills, communication styles, international networks, country knowledge and life experience (Cope and Kalantzis,1997). It is believed that ‘Product Diversity’ model serves the needs of clients more effectively by introducing more efficient and more productive work practices. It also often makes work and management more meaningful and more satisfying (Cope and Kalantzis,1997:4).
