Pointwise definition

Pointwise means that for each chosen value of the distance r, the range of simulated values of L(r) has been calculated, and a test based on these values would be valid. Plotting the pointwise envelopes shows what the result of the test would have been if we had chosen any particular value of r. For further explanation, see Chapter 10.
