Plant growth regulator definition

Plant growth regulator means any substance or mixture of substances intended, through physiological action, for accelerating or retarding the rate of growth or rate of maturation, or for otherwise altering the behavior of ornamental or crop plants or the produce thereof, but shall not include substances to the extent that they are intended as plant nutrients, trace elements, nutritional chemicals, plant inoculants, and soil amendments.
Plant growth regulator means a substance used for controlling or modifying plant growth processes without appreciable phytotoxic effect at the dosage applied.
Plant growth regulator and “legume inoculant” means any biological remedy, or any mixture or combination of any substance or remedy intended or offered to be used as plant growth regulator, defoliant, desiccant or legume inoculant, and anything else which the Minister has by notice in the Gazette declared an agricultural remedy for the purposes of this Act (Act 36 of 1947) (as defined in Act 36 of 1947).
