Personal Leave Without Pay. Leave of absence for personal reasons not to exceed 30 days may be granted to permanent employees of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, if approved by the Superintendent, subject to the following guidelines:
Personal Leave Without Pay. Personal leave without pay will not be approved except 20 in those instances where the teacher has no appropriate paid leave available. It is 21 understood that a teacher’s willingness to undertake leave without pay does not impose a 22 requirement on the principal or the supervisor to approve the request for leave. The request 23 is subject to approval or disapproval by the Superintendent based on the extent to which 24 the teacher’s absence will impact the instructional setting or the work setting.
Personal Leave Without Pay. Employees may be granted a personal leave of absence without pay upon approval. Request for personal leave of absence shall be in writing and shall be signed by the employee and given to the Sheriff. Such request shall state the reasons for the leave. Response to the request shall be in writing by the Sheriff and the Human Resources Director.
Personal Leave Without Pay. 15.14.1 A unit member may apply for and may be granted an unpaid health leave of absence for the remainder of the current school year and up to one (1) additional school year. The unit member shall furnish the Superintendent, upon request, a physician’s verification of the member’s need for such health leave. Such leave may be extended for an additional twelve (12) months.
Personal Leave Without Pay. Reasons for requesting leave without pay for personal reasons of up to three (3) days, will not be required of the employee unless the number of requests is excessive or the granting of such leave would interfere with urgent work commitments. Permission to take such leave will not be unreasonably withheld.

Personal Leave Without Pay. Any full time faculty member is eligible to apply for a personal leave. Leaves may be granted for advanced professional training, travel, and maternity. No leave will be for less than one (1) semester, nor for more than one (1) year. Except in cases of emergency, the application for personal leave must be approved by the supervising administrator and submitted to the Human Resources Office for clearance at least ten (10) weeks prior to the start of the semester involved.
Personal Leave Without Pay. Employees may apply to their principal or immediate supervisor for such principal's or supervisor's approval of five (5) days personal leave without pay per year. Personal leave without pay in excess of five (5) days shall be requested with reasons in writing to the Employer, countersigned by the principal or immediate supervisor, indicating approval or disapproval. Personal leave without pay for one year shall be requested before the closing date of the school year immediately preceding the year for which the request is made. Application for Personal Leave Without Pay shall be made in increments of one (1) year. Personal Leave Without Pay may be approved for a maximum of two (2) consecutive years. All personal leave without pay shall not be unreasonably denied.
Personal Leave Without Pay. Permission to be absent without pay may be granted to a unit member, for a period not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days. All requests for leave without pay shall be made in writing to the immediate supervisor. If a response is not received within five (5) working days of the request, the unit member shall have the right to discuss the request with the next level supervisor. If the leave without pay request is denied by the unit member’s immediate supervisor, the unit member may request that the reason for the denial be in writing. In the case of denial, the unit member shall have the right to discuss the denial with the next level of supervision for the purpose of reconsideration.
