Observation status means hospital outpatient services provided to you to help the health care practitioner decide if you need to be admitted as an inpatient.Open enrollment period means no less than a 31-day period of time, occurring annually for the group, during which the employees have an opportunity to enroll themselves and their eligible dependents for coverage under the policy. Oral surgery means procedures to correct diseases, injuries and defects of the jaw and mouth structures. These procedures include, but are not limited to, the following:Surgical removal of full bony impactions; Mandibular or maxillary implant; Maxillary or mandibular frenectomy; Alveolectomy and alveoplasty; Orthognathic surgery;Surgery for treatment of temporomandibular joint syndrome/dysfunction; and Periodontal surgical procedures, including gingivectomies. Any amount you pay exceeding the maximum allowable fee is not applied to the out-of-pocket limits. Outpatient means you are not confined as a registered bed patient. Outpatient care for substance abuse means the use of any or all of the therapeutic techniques on both a scheduled and a non-scheduled basis. Observation status means that a person is undergoing Outpatient short-term treatment and testing while a decision is made whether to intensify or cancel clinical services depending on the severity of the presenting factors. If more intense treatment is deemed medically appropriate and medically necessary, the person is admitted as an inpatient. If not, the person is discharged.
