Examples of N2O in a sentence
If the emissions of methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and other chemically reactive gases that result from subsequent uses of the land are considered in addition to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, annual emissions from tropical deforestation during the 1990s accounted for about 15-25% of the total anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases2.For a number of reasons, activities to reduce such emissions are not accepted for generating creditable emissions reductions under the Kyoto Protocol.
The dissociative adsorption of N2O at 363 K on the reduced catalyst using a 0.8% N2O/2% Ar/He mixture indicated from the amount of N2 formed a dispersion of 0.11 for the fresh reduced catalyst assuming a ratio Cu/N2 = 2.12 This value is lower than that determined by Dandekar and Vannice12 (range 0.2-0.5) on 5.1% Cu/SiO2 and 4.9% Cu/Al2O3, but the solids were pretreated and reduced at lower temperatures (473 and 573 K) compared to the present study (713 K).
The internationally-accepted Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard (2004) for GHG accounting and reporting requires organizations to account for the six gases identified in the Kyoto Protocol, including: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), Nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), perfluorocarbon (PFC), and nitrogen triflouride (NF3).
The IPCC default direct nitrogen emission rate, 0.01 g N2O /1 g N applied, was used per ARB inventory methods.99 The indirect nitrogen emission rate,100 including the emissions associated with nitrification-denitrification process of nitrogen remaining in the soil and from nitrogen lost through runoff and leaching is the same as the emission rate provided in Table 21.
Moreover, N2O is a gas that can result from various biological and industrial processes, including intensive broiler farming.
Based on the calculated concentrations, radiative forcing for CO2, CH4 and N2O is calculated based on the simplified expressions in Table 1 of (Etminan et al., 2016) that accounts for the overlap between the three components.
The initial concentrations of CO2, CH4 and N2O used for the calculations are the concentration in the nystart year from the input file.
The fuel consumption estimates were converted by the diesel density factor and multiplied by the emission factors and global warming potentials to calculate CH4 and N2O emissions.32 The inventory does not report emission from the Class II/III rail type because the fuel consumption estimates are not reported by county.
Human activities generate GHGs consisting primarily of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), tetrafluoromethane, hexafluoroethane, sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), and various hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
Currently, CO2 constitutes the major part of the GHG emissions in this sector, since nitric acid production, the main source of N2O, was phased out between 2004 and 2005.
