Mature definition

Mature. ’ means that the apples have reached the stage of development which will insure the proper comple- tion of the ripening process. Before a mature apple becomes overripe it will show varying degrees of firmness, de- pending upon the stage of the ripening process. The following terms are used for describing different stages of firm- ness of apples:
Mature means that the pear has reached the stage of maturity which will insure the proper completion of the ripening process.
Mature. ’ means that the peach has reached the stage of growth which will ensure a proper completion of the rip- ening process.

Mature means, using the modified Jacobs growth stage classification system, a tree which exhibits the following structural characteristics: crown opening up with crown limbs healthy; dead branches are few throughout the crown, and when present are small; few branch hollows, and when present are very small.
