Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) definition

Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) means any individual permitted by law and by the licensed hospital to provide care and services, without supervision, within the scope of the individual's license and consistent with clinical privileges individually granted by the licensed hospital. Licensed independent practitioners may include Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) with prescriptive authority and Physician Assistants.
