Instructional leader means a building-level administrator who is responsible for evaluating teachers or instructional staff. It shall include without limitation a building-level administrator who is an evaluator as defined in A.C.A § 6-17-2803.
Instructional leader. A principal who serves as ‘instructional leader’ focuses on the instructional quality of the school and establishes as priorities allocating resources to instruction, overseeing the curriculum, and expanding the teaching and learning on the campus. These principals will “free themselves from bureaucratic tasks and focus their efforts toward improving teaching and learning” (▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, 2009, p. 36) by spending the majority of their time engaged with the curriculum, instruction, and assessments used to ensure learning. In addition, instructional leaders need to be resource providers, instructional assets, good communicators, and have a visible presence (▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, 1997, as cited in ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, 2009).
