Household International s management is responsible for the preparation, integrity and fair presentation of its published financial statements. The consolidated financial statements have been prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and, as such, include amounts based on judgments and estimates made by management. Management also prepared other information included in the annual report and is responsible for its accuracy and consistency with the financial statements. The consolidated financial statements have been audited by an independent accounting firm, [ ], which has been given unrestricted access to all financial records and related data, including minutes of all meetings of shareholders, the Board of Directors and committees of the board. Management believes that representations made to the independent auditors during their audit were valid and appropriate. Management maintains a system of internal controls over the preparation of its published financial statements. These controls are designed to provide reasonable assurance to the company's Board of Directors and officers that the financial statements have been fairly presented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
