Hot testing definition

Hot testing means the testing of machinery or equipment that will be used in manufacturing, processing or power generation operations, when such machinery or equipment involves the use of feedstock, fuel, catalysts or similar materials, for the purpose of simulating load, operating or production conditions to train personnel or to verify the machinery or equipment functions according to the design specifications.
Hot testing means any start-up, commissioning or other form of testing making use of any feedstock, including operational tests and performance tests performed in conjunction with “hot testing”. “Hot testing” includes the examination, experiment or trial of Covered Property such as ovens, boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, process equipment or equipment of a similar nature to prove their ability or function. “Hot testing” does not include the start-up and testing of building systems such as sprinkler systems, plumbing, piping systems, gas lines, air conditioning lines, elevators, or escalators.

Hot testing generally means running production/generating/manufacturing machinery with fuel and/or raw material, feedstock to test its ability to do what it’s designed to do i.e. operational or performance testing. A production run for an hour , a day, a week or months.
