Governor-General to be informed concerning matters of government.
Subsection 102.1(2A) of the Criminal Code provides that before the Governor-General makes a regulation specifying an organisation for the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of ‘terrorist organisation’ in subsection 102.1(1) of the Criminal Code, the Minister must arrange for the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives to be briefed in relation to the proposed regulation.
Nothing in this section shall prevent Parliament from conferring functions on persons or authorities other than the Governor-General.
The Commissioner holds office on such terms and conditions (if any) in respect of matters not provided for by this Act as are determined by the Governor-General.
However, the Governor-General has power to make ordinances for the ACT on a limited number of topics (see Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910 (Cwlth), s 12).Note 4 The written laws in force in the ACT also include the Commonwealth Constitution, Commonwealth Acts, and regulations and other legislative instruments made under Commonwealth Acts.
