First Nation Land definition

First Nation Land means a “reserve” within the meaning of the term under the Indian Act set apart for a Participating First Nation, and includes “first nation land” administered under the First Nations Land Management Act;
First Nation Land means the land to which the Land Code will apply and more specifically means the Reserves known as and as described in the Legal Description Report(s) referred to in Annex “G” and includes all the interests in and resources of the land that are within the legislative authority of Parliament, but does not include the Excluded Land;2
First Nation Land means any portion of a First Nation reserve that is subject to this Land Code;

Examples of First Nation Land in a sentence

  • For facilities on First Nation reserve land in Canada not subject to the First Nation Land Management regime: Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada.

  • For facilities on First Nations land in Canada subject to the First Nation Land Management Act regime: the relevant First Nation Council.

  • Documentation must be provided that the facility is on land subject to the First Nation Land Management Act regime.

  • The application form incorporates sections that need to be completed by the officer themselves, their line manager, who can express approval at local level, and the BCU/Dept Branch Commander, HR Manager or equivalent, who can endorse the application from a more central perspective.

  • The Framework Agreement provides the First Nation with all the powers of an owner in relation to its First Nation Land, except for control over title or the power to sell it.


More Definitions of First Nation Land

First Nation Land means land in a reserve to which a land code applies and includes all the interests and resources ofthe land that are within the legislative authority of Parliament.
