A Firefighter III is eligible for “working out of class” compensation for all hours worked as a primary apparatus unit officer on an emergency call.
While candidates may test and be placed upon a final promotional eligibility list without the following prerequisites, a candidate for promotion to the position of Fire Captain must, as of the time that a vacancy occurs have served as a full-time paid firefighter for a period of three (3) years and attained certification as Firefighter III.
