Electronically Stored Information definition
Electronically Stored Information means any system backup tapes, any electronic mail (whether on an exchange or other similar system), any data on personal computers and any data on server hard drives.
Electronically Stored Information or “ESI” means the complete original and any non-identical copy (whether different from the original because of notations, different metadata, or otherwise) of any electronically created or stored information, including e-mail, instant messaging, videoconferencing, SMS, MMS, or other text messaging, and other electronic correspondence (whether active, archived, unsent, or in a sent or deleted-items folder), word- processing files, spreadsheets, databases, unorganized data, Document metadata, presentation files, video recordings, and sound recordings, regardless of how or where the information is stored, including if it is on a mobile device.

More Definitions of Electronically Stored Information
Electronically Stored Information or "ESI," as used herein, means, and refers to computer generated information or data of any kind, stored in or on any storage media located on computers, files servers, disks, tape or other real or virtualized devices or media. Non limiting examples of ESI include:
Electronically Stored Information means information that is stored in an electronic medium.
Electronically Stored Information means any document, communication, or any other data or information present or stored on or in any computer, internal or external hard drive, jump drive, diskette, compact disc, server, database, or any other device capable of storing electronic files or information.
Electronically Stored Information means electronically stored information created, communicated, stored and utilized in digital form requiring the use of computer hardware and software, including, without limitation, computer or electronic files stored on file servers, e-mail servers, work stations, desktops, hard drives, solid-state drives, cloud storage, personal digital assistants, smartphones (e.g., Blackberrys, iPhones, Droids), tablets (e.g., iPads) and other mobile electronic devices, or other electronic social or industrial/business web-based media (e.g., Facebook®, Twitter®, LinkedIn®, Skype®, WhatsApp®, etc.), records, data, reports, and queries derived from or residing in applications and databases, computer printouts, contracts, cost sheets, data compilations from which information can be obtained, derived, or can be translated through detection devices or converted or translated into reasonably usable form, magnetic discs, magnetic strips, magnetic tape, recognition characters, microfiche, microfilm, optical characters, punched cards, punched paper tapes, audio tapes or recordings, or video tapes or recordings.
Electronically Stored Information or “ESI” means (a) information that is generated, received, processed, or recorded by computers or other electronic devices; (b) internal or external web sites; (c) output resulting from the use of any software program, including word processing documents, spreadsheets, database files, charts, graphs and outlines, electronic mail, AOL Instant MessengerTM (or similar instant messaging program) or bulletin board programs, operating systems, source code, PRF files, PRC files, batch files, ASCII files, and all miscellaneous media on which they reside; (d) activity listings of electronic mail receipts and/or transmittals; and (e) any and all items stored on computer memories, hard disks, floppy disks, CD- ROM, magnetic tape, microfiche, or in any other vehicle for digital data storage or transmittal, such as, without limitation, a personal digital assistant, e.g., Palm Pilot, Blackberry, or similar device, and file folder tabs, or containers and labels appended to, or relating to, any physical storage device associated with each original or copy of all Documents requested herein.
