Effective February. Shift Shift The above applies to those employ- ees working on a continuous four (24) hour rotation. Shift differential will not be paid to day employees or to those employees designated "day shift employees".
Effective February. 1, 2000 the Employer shall pay six dollars and twenty-five cents ($6.25) per week for each employee covered by this contract to the Vancouver Local No. 525-M, Graphic Communications International Union, Educational Training and Retraining Trust Fund for the purpose of providing education and training for apprentices and retraining for journeymen. The Trust Fund shall be controlled and administered by a Board of Trustees which shall consist of an equal number of Employer Trustees and Union Trustees, in accordance with the terms of the Trust document establishing and governing the operations of the fund.
Effective February. 1, 2019, teachers will make every effort to schedule appointments with healthcare providers outside of classroom hours. If scheduling such appointments outside of classroom hours is not possible, teachers will make every effort to limit their absence for such appointments to no more than one half day. This provision applies to all leave situations under this Collective Agreement including Articles 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14.
Effective February. 1, 2004 a shift premium of fifty cents (50¢) per hour for each hour worked by an afternoon shift employee and a shift premium of fifty cents (50¢) per hour for each hour worked by a night shift employee shall be paid to employees on those shifts. Effective January 1, 2012 the premium will increase to sixty (60¢). Additional shifts shall be staffed by those employees having skill, competence, efficiency and reliability to perform the necessary work, in order of seniority with the least senior employees being first assigned. If only one person has the skill, competence, efficiency and reliability for the work on the additional shift but has more seniority than other employees on day shift, he or she will be assigned to the additional shift for up to two (2) weeks while a less senior employee is trained on the day shift to perform such job. On completion of such training, the trained junior employee will be assigned to the additional shift and the more senior employees shall be returned to the day shift.
Effective February. 1, 2005 a route driver with a perfect driving record for the previous year will be paid $150.00. No driving infractions or accidents on or off the job constitutes a perfect driving record. For the purposes of verifying the driving record, route drivers are to provide the Company with an abstract. If a driver has more than 2 points on his record, he must take a driving course on his own time. The Company will pay for the course. If a driver becomes uninsurable because of an insurance premium increase due to his driving record, he will be terminated and paid termination pay according to the Employment Standards Act. Under these circumstances the employee will be laid off.
Effective February. 1, 2018 there shall be a retention differential of seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750) paid annually to all full-time and part time employees on a bi-weekly basis, prorated to their current FTE status and commence on the employee’s anniversary date. This differential will replace the current step system. For contract year 2021 only, the retention bonus will be eight hundred and seventy-five dollars $875 payable per the terms of this Article 9.16.
