Distinguished or Characterized by an Emphasis On. Means the dominant or principal theme of the object described by such phrase.
Distinguished or Characterized by an Emphasis On means the dominant or principal theme of the object described by such a phrase. For instance, when the phrase refers to films which are distinguished or characterized by an emphasis upon the exhibition or description of specified sexual activities or specified anatomical areas. The films so described are those whose dominant or principal character and theme are the exhibition or description of specified anatomical areas or specified sexual activities.

  • Distinguishable from background means that the detectable concentration of a radionuclide is statistically different from the background concentration of that radionuclide in the vicinity of the site or, in the case of structures, in similar materials using adequate measurement technology, survey, and statistical techniques.

  • Physical or mental impairment means (a) any physiological disorder or condition, cosmetic disfigurement, or anatomical loss affecting one or more of the following body systems: neurological; musculoskeletal; special sense organs; respiratory, including speech organs; cardiovascular; reproductive, digestive, genito-urinary; hemic and lymphatic; skin; and endocrine; or (b) any mental or psychological disorder, such as mental retardation, organic brain syndrome, emotional or mental illness, and specific learning disabilities.

  • Graduates Unavailable for Employment means the graduates who, after graduation, die, become incarcerated, are called to active military duty, are international students that leave the United States or do not have a visa allowing employment in the United States, or are continuing their education in an accredited or bureau-approved postsecondary institution.

  • Dependant non classified means a person who is aged 18–20 of age who does not have a spouse or partner.

  • Business concern means any corporation, company, limited liability company, partnership, joint venture, trust, unincorporated association or any other form of association.

  • Contractor attributional/proprietary information means information that identifies the contractor(s), whether directly or indirectly, by the grouping of information that can be traced back to the contractor(s) (e.g., program description, facility locations), personally identifiable information, as well as trade secrets, commercial or financial information, or other commercially sensitive information that is not customarily shared outside of the company.

  • Historically Disadvantaged Individual (HDI) - means a South African citizen:

  • Population means the population as ascertained at the last preceding census of which the relevant figures have been published;

It is important to note that the business owners themselves must control the operations of the business. Absentee ownership or title ownership by an individual who does not take an active role in controlling the business is not consistent with eligibility as a DBE under CFR 49 Part 26.71.

  • Disadvantaged Worker means any person who:

  • Business owned by a person with a disability means a business concern that is at least 51% owned by one or more persons with a disability and the management and daily business operations of which are controlled by one or more of the persons with disabilities who own it. A not- for-profit agency for persons with disabilities that is exempt from taxation under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is also considered a "business owned by a person with a disability".
