Defter definition
Defter. (or “tefter”) means a notebook or book in modern Turkish language, but in time of the Turkish Ottoman Empire it was one of official documents of the Ottoman administration and accountancy - a cadastral tax list with recorded data on the villages, households and ethnic groups on the territory of the Ottoman Empire.
