Confirmation Drug Test definition

The second analytical procedure must be used to identify the presence of a specific drug or metabolite in a specimen. The confirmation method must be capable of providing requisite specificity and quantitative accuracy. The confirmation test for alcohol will be gas chromatography and the confirmation test for all the drugs will be gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
Confirmation Drug Test means a second analytical procedure to identify the presence of a specific drug or metabolite that is independent of the preliminary screening test. Confirmation uses a different technique and chemical principle from that of the screening test to ensure reliability and accuracy. (Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry [GC/MS] is the only authorized confirmation method for cocaine, marijuana, opiates, amphetamines and phencyclidine.)
